Teaching for Outcomes in Elementary Physical Education is the first book to provide elementary physical education specialists and district supervisors with practical guidelines for the planning, instruction, and assessment of an outcomes-related curriculum. Part I introduces the reader to outcomes-based physical education and details how to determine curricular outcomes on four planning levels: program, course, unit, and lesson. Teaching for Outcomes in Elementary Physical Education also defines performance assessment--the basic method of assessment used in outcomes-based education. The book describes two types of assessment (performance tasks and portfolio tasks) and shows how to use them effectively in a physical education program.
